Terms of Use

These terms govern your use of mitrekker.co.za. By using the site you accept them. They are short because the relationship is simple: we help you compare, and you contract with whoever you choose.

1. What MiTrekker is

These Terms govern your access to and use of the website at mitrekker.co.za and the services we make available through it, provided by Mitrekker (Pty) Ltd (“MiTrekker”, “we”, “us”, “our”). They constitute a binding agreement between you and Mitrekker (Pty) Ltd.

MiTrekker is an independent comparison service for vehicle tracking and dashcams in South Africa, powered by OneCompare (Pty) Ltd, an authorised Financial Services Provider (FSP 55551) authorised by the Financial Sector Conduct Authority under the Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services Act, 2002. We publish guides, and we help you request and compare quotes.

2. What MiTrekker is not

• We are not an insurer and we do not underwrite anything. Nothing on this site is an offer of insurance.
• We do not sell, fit, monitor or service tracking devices or dashcams. Installation, monitoring, support and recovery sit with the provider you choose.
• We are not your financial or legal adviser. The guides are general information about how the market and the paperwork work, not advice about your circumstances.

3. Who you contract with

If you proceed after comparing, your agreement is signed directly with the tracking or dashcam provider — not with MiTrekker. Their terms, pricing, contract period, cancellation rules and service levels are theirs, and you should read them. Any dispute about a device, an installation, a subscription or a recovery is between you and that provider.

4. Using the site

Comparing is free. In return, please do not:

• submit false information, or someone else's details without their consent;
• scrape, copy or republish the guides at scale, or reuse them as your own content;
• attempt to interfere with the site, its forms or its infrastructure, or to gain access to anything not intended to be public;
• upload anything unlawful, malicious, or that you do not have the right to send.

Enquiry submissions are rate-limited per network address. Attachments are limited to 50MB in total per submission.

5. About the guides

We take the accuracy of the guides seriously and describe our approach on the About page. But the market changes, insurers and lenders change their conditions, and no general guide can tell you what your own paperwork says.

On anything contractual, your own policy schedule or finance agreement is the authority, not this site. Where a guide describes what insurers or banks commonly do, that is a description of a pattern, not a statement about your policy. Check your documents, and where the stakes are high, get advice from someone who has read them.

Prices and product details shown for comparison are indicative and subject to change by the provider. A binding price is the one the provider quotes you.

6. Availability

We aim to keep the site up, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of it, including pages and guides, without notice.

7. Third-party links and embedded forms

Some pages link to, or embed, services operated by others — most notably the quote form on our quote page, which is hosted by OneCompare. We are not responsible for the content or practices of third-party services, and their terms and privacy policies apply to your use of them. Our own Privacy Policy explains which data reaches us and which does not.

8. Intellectual property

The guides, comparisons, page design and MiTrekker name and logo belong to MiTrekker or its licensors. Provider and insurer logos and trade marks belong to their respective owners and are shown to identify those businesses, not to imply that they endorse this site. You may quote or link to our pages with attribution; you may not republish them wholesale.

9. Liability

To the extent the law allows, MiTrekker is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of this site, from a decision made on the basis of a guide, or from the acts or omissions of a provider you contract with.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes any liability that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded — including your rights under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 and the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002. Where a clause here conflicts with a right you have under those Acts, that right prevails.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The version on this page, with the date at the top of it, is the one that applies.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of South Africa, and the South African courts have jurisdiction.
