About MiTrekker

One place to compare vehicle tracking & dashcams.

MiTrekker helps South African motorists make sense of vehicle tracking and dashcams — two different tools that both protect your car — and compare the options in one place. Instead of trawling through providers one by one, you tell us what you drive and what you need, and we help you compare and get quotes without the runaround.

Who is behind MiTrekker

This site is operated by Mitrekker (Pty) Ltd, and is powered by OneCompare (Pty) Ltd, an authorised Financial Services Provider, FSP 55551. The tracking companies and insurers whose logos appear on this site are OneCompare's partners, which is why the partner strip on the home page names OneCompare rather than MiTrekker. When you request a quote here, it is handled through OneCompare's quote portal.

Our Privacy Policy and Terms of Use set out the full company details, how we handle personal information under POPIA, and who you contract with.

How the quote actually works

It is worth being plain about the mechanics, because comparison sites vary enormously in what happens after you click.

  • Comparing is free. You can read every guide, price and comparison on this site without giving us anything.
  • One request, several options. A single quote request lets you compare multiple solutions side by side rather than repeating yourself to each provider in turn.
  • You contract with the provider, not with us. Your agreement is signed directly with the tracking or dashcam company you choose, so you know exactly who you are dealing with before anything is installed.
  • Nothing is fitted by us. Installation, monitoring and support sit with the provider. We are the comparison step in front of that, not a party to it.

Who writes the guides

The guides on this site are written and maintained by the MiTrekker editorial team, which is why they carry that byline rather than a single name. We would rather tell you honestly that a small team produced them than attach a face to work several people did.

Most of this site is not product copy. It is guides explaining how the system actually works: what your insurer's policy schedule can oblige you to fit, how a tracker requirement reaches you through a finance agreement rather than from the bank itself, how stolen-vehicle recovery runs in the first hour, which models are targeted and why.

We hold ourselves to a few rules on that:

  • We point you at the document, not at our opinion. On anything contractual, the guides tell you which paragraph of your own policy schedule or finance agreement settles the question — because that paragraph outranks anything we or a call-centre agent could say about it.
  • We separate law from contract. No South African statute forces a private owner to fit a tracker. Every requirement you will meet is contractual, and we say which contract it comes from.
  • We do not invent numbers. Where a figure is not something we can stand behind, we describe the mechanism instead of quoting a false precision.
  • Pages carry the date they were last updated. Nothing is back-dated, and nothing claims to be newer than it is.

What we do not do

We are not an insurer, we do not underwrite anything, and we do not tell you which product to buy. We do not publish reviews we have not written, and we do not present a provider as recommended because of a commercial relationship. Where a page compares providers, it compares them on what they actually differ on.
